PMP- Chapter 09- Project Human Resource Management Notes


  • project management team is a subset of project team. referred as core, executive or leadership team.
  • project sponsor typically assisting project funding, clarifying scope, monitoring progress, and influencing stakeholders
  • managing and leading project team includes,
    • influencing the project team
    • professional and ethical behavior
  • 9.1 Human Resource Management
    • identifying and documenting project roles, responsibilities, required skills, reporting relationships and creating a staffing management plan
    • establishes project roles and responsibilities, proj. org. charts, and staffing management plan including the timetable for staff acquisition and release.
    • staffing management plan including timetables for staff acquisition and release, identification of training needs, team-building strategies, plans for recognition and rewards programs, compliance considerations, safety issues and the impact of the staffing management plan on the org.

        • Hierarchical Type charts - org. breakdown structure(OBS)
        • Matrix-based charts - responsibility assignment matrix(RAM), connections between work packages or activities and project team members. eg, RACI(responsible, accountable, consult, inform)
        • Text-oriented formats - responsibilities that require detailed descriptions can be specified in text-oriented formats.
      • networking - formal and informal interaction, constructive way to understand political and interpersonal factors that will impact effectiveness of various staffing management options.
